- Provide information to those who may wish to seek employment with member firms
- Provide information to solicitors and trainee solicitors who may wish to become members of the Society
- To provide links to other sites which are sources of legal information
About the Bedfordshire Law Society
The Bedfordshire Law Society is comprised of solicitors practising or living in Bedfordshire. Many, but not all solicitors practising locally are members. Solicitors practising in Luton belong instead to the Hertfordshire Law Society. To find solicitors practising in the Luton area see Hertfordshire Law Society. Other neighbouring Law Societies include Cambridge and District Law Society, Berks Bucks and Oxfordshire Incorporated Law Society and the Northamptonshire Law Society.
The Society provides a forum for local solicitors to discuss matters of professional concern, to assist solicitors in professional updating and to meet socially.
It is hoped that all those practising locally who are not members will consider joining.
The Relationship between the local Law Society and the National Law Society
The local Law Society exists to support solicitors practising in the region. It does not aim to deal with the general public. Any member of the public who wishes to obtain information about issues such as client care and professional standards should contact the Law Society of England & Wales.
Please note that the Society does not deal directly with the public or deal with complaints. These are dealt with by the Legal Complaints Service.
Member firms
There is a range of member firms, both large and small. The larger firms provide a wider range of legal services, whereas many of the smaller firms concentrate on specialised areas of law. Not all solicitors' firms provide their services under the Legal Aid scheme, and clients who believe that they require legal aid should check that the firm they wish to instruct deals with legal aid work in the area of law on which they require advice. Details of member firms are to be found on the Find a Solicitor Page.
